Our function

Objectives and vision

The overall goal of ATMP center Uppsala is that all future patients who need treatment with ATMP should be able to receive it. The center serves as a hub where ongoing research can be quickly transferred to clinical activities and benefit our patients. We also plan to establish a GMP-certified manufacturing unit for our own production of ATMP.

Through close collaboration between employees in Region Uppsala, Uppsala University Hospital and Uppsala University, our collective experience and broad expertise in the ATMP area leads to a nationally leading operation with broad collaboration both nationally and internationally.

Organization

The ATMP center is organizationally located under Uppsala University Hospital (Section blood and tumor diseases) and is led by a director. The strategic work is led by a steering group consisting of representatives from both Region Uppsala and Uppsala University. The center brings together expertise in several different areas of activity with key actors for the development and implementation of ATMP treatments (GIN lab, pharmacy, the hospital's research units, clinical immunology and transfusion medicine, the academic laboratory and Uppsala University). ATMP center Uppsala also participates in a national network for ATMP centers, established within the framework of ATMP2030. ATMP2030 (atmpsweden.se)

Through forward-looking and strategic work, the goal is to be able to increase the number of clinical studies and routine treatments with ATMP in Uppsala so that all patients who need this type of treatment can also have access to it.
