Hand Surgery

Of the 16 hand surgeons working in the hand surgery department, 11 are specialists. Each year, 2 000 hand operations are carried out and 9 500 patients are seen by doctors as outpatients. The department has room for eight inpatients and a separate rehabilitation department with physiotherapists and occupational therapists. The department's areas of expertise include damage to nerves and bursae, wrist surgery, joint replacements, microsurgery, hand malformations and birth defects. Clinical and experimental research is also carried out in collaboration with international research groups.
