Free Wireless Internet
Uppsala University Hospital provides a guest network for patients and visitors. This means you can access free wireless internet (Wi‑Fi) in most areas of both the hospital and the Ulleråker campus.
Network Priorities
The guest network is configured so that it does not interfere with the wireless systems used by hospital staff. Because of this, we cannot guarantee connection speed or uninterrupted access. Under normal circumstances, the network is fast and reliable – but patient care and staff operations always have priority.
Using Your Own Device
You can also connect your own laptop or mobile phone via Telia Homerun. Any costs associated with this service are paid by the user. For those with Telia mobile broadband, Homerun access is included at no extra charge.
Students can connect to the Eduroam university network, which is available throughout the hospital.
Guidelines for Wireless Devices
Mobile phones and other wireless communication devices should not be used within one meter of electronically controlled medical equipment in use on patients. Some hospital units may therefore restrict mobile phone use entirely.
For safety reasons, laptops should not be plugged into electrical outlets near patients. This is to avoid electrical risks when medical equipment is connected and to reduce the risk of fire in beds.
