There are information desks at our main entrances where you can get support and assistance. If you have a visual impairment, you can book a guide. Red Cross volunteers are also available at the main entrances. They can help you find your way, show you how to register your visit or keep you company for a while.

Red Cross hosts can help you in the hospital
Information desks are located at entrances 10, 70, and 100/101. We are happy to help with your questions, whether you are a patient, relative or visitor at Uppsala University Hospital.
There are also cafés and a restaurant, as well as direct telephone lines for taxi bookings. At entrance 70, you will also find a pharmacy and a shop.
Assistive devices, interpreters and escort service
Please bring any assistive devices you need, such as a wheelchair or walker.
Do you need an interpreter? Contact your clinic well in advance. This applies to language interpreters as well as interpretation services for people with hearing or visual impairments.
If you have a visual impairment, you can book an escort service. Call 018-611 44 00 or arrange assistance at the information desk at entrance 10, 70, or 100/101.
An escort will meet you at the information desk and accompany you to the correct location. You will also receive help with arrival registration and, if applicable, payment for your visit. After your appointment, the escort will accompany you back to the information desk.
Red Cross volunteers can help you at the hospital
The Red Cross has volunteers at the hospital. They are available at entrance 70 and entrance 100/101. They can usually assist Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays, between 8 and 14
Red Cross volunteers can help you:
- Find your way around the hospital.
- Locate your clinic or ward.
- Register your arrival at the self-service check-in terminal.
Red Cross volunteers are also present in the Emergency Department seven days a week. They provide companionship and a listening ear if your waiting time is long.
Companion service
The Red Cross can provide companionship to and from medical and dental appointments in Uppsala. Please email your request at least 3–5 working days in advance, or call 018-14 32 10 and leave a message on the answering service.
