A number that saves lives - 018-200 112

On board are some of the country's most experienced and specially trained doctors and nurses in airborne intensive care. They are used to working in the same team and immediately assume full medical responsibility for the patient. No-one from your organisation will need to accompany them on the trip, so you will retain all resources in the department. This saves time, energy and lives.

We will fly the patient to Uppsala University Hospital or to another predetermined hospital in Europe. Where necessary, the care teams are supplemented with the necessary specialised expertise. There are always two pilots on the flight for extra flight safety.

This includes:

  • 24-hour emergency response, all year round.
  • Fully specialised teams, used to working together.
  • Dual pilots for extra safety during the flight
  • Specially equipped intensive care stretcher or incubator.
  • Medical responsibility from bedside to bedside.
  • Shortest possible time outside hospital.
  • All the costs of the mission on a single invoice, allowing for easier oversight and administration.

Our clients

Our clients are regions and hospitals all over Sweden, with a focus on the central regions. We also transport foreign patients in need of specialist care at Uppsala University Hospital.

In Sweden

Wherever you live in Sweden, you should have access to highly specialised care when needed. We pick up patients from all over the country and make sure they get to the specialised wards that can best provide them with the care they need.

International specialised care

We pick up foreign patients when they need a second opinion or specialist care in areas where we are particularly prominent, such as endocrine oncology (the study of hormone-producing tumours). As the world becomes more globalised and cooperation between countries, hospitals and doctors increases, so do our flights to and from other countries.

Our teams and our services

Every year, LIV (airborne intensive care) at Uppsala University Hospital carries out around 800 missions, both planned patient transports and emergency flights or intensive care transports - in the event of serious road accidents, for example.

Swedish air ambulance

Uppsala University Hospital and Airborne Intensive Care LIV are also employers and care providers for the air ambulance aircraft within the Swedish Air Ambulance Association. The aircraft and the nurses employed are based at Arlanda.
