Development Fund

The University Hospital Development Fund was established by the hospital board to support progress in diagnostics, treatment, nursing and organisational development. The fund distributes grants to hospital staff who apply for financial support for important improvement projects.

The foundation gratefully receives contributions and legacies, which are managed responsibly and with care. Donors may choose to earmark their contribution for a specific activity or medical area. All grants are awarded in accordance with the donor’s wishes and the foundation's statutes.

When a donation is made in memory of someone, the fund sends a message to the family, provided that the donor has included the necessary details.

Children’s Fund

The Children’s Fund exists to ensure that sick children have opportunities to play – in the right way, in the right environment – during their treatment. Play helps children release emotions such as fear, anger and joy; it restores energy, strengthens the body, and above all, helps them stay resilient throughout their illness.

The fund supports toys, games and cultural activities for children receiving care at Uppsala University Hospital. It also contributes to larger projects that enhance their hospital experience.

The Children’s Fund is operated by an independent foundation and was established in 2005.

The Birth Fund

Expecting and welcoming a baby is one of life’s most significant experiences, yet it does not always unfold as hoped. Some babies are born too early or become ill before birth. Others arrive with heart defects, infections or birth‑related injuries.

The Birth Fund supports scientific research that improves the health of mothers and babies during pregnancy, birth and the early months of life. Its purpose is to advance knowledge that leads to safer outcomes for both mother and child.

The Birth Fund is operated by an independent foundation and was established in 1982.
