Referral to National Highly Specialised Care (NHV) in transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (TIPS)
After the referral has been accepted, all patient cases will be presented via multidisciplinary radiological conference at the NHV unit, where decisions on action are made and planning for care is started. For processing and possible care planning, a payment commitment must be attached to the referral at the time of referral.
In order for the NHV unit to make a good judgement, some investigation and information needs to be already available at the time of referral for elective TIPS in order for the referral to be accepted for processing. See the referral template for the checklist.
