Since 1 January 2024, Uppsala University Hospital has provided care according to the National Highly Specialised Care (NHV) for gendermatoses.

Referral to National Highly Specialised Care (NHV) in gendermatoses

The care is provided in cooperation with several organisations, such as the skin section, Clinical Genetics and the Uppsala University Children's Hospital, among others. The gendermatosis team includes a dermatologist, a dermatology nurse and an assistant nurse. A coordinator is also attached to the team.

What care constitutes National Highly Specialised Care (NHV)?

Some care for gendermatoses, as described below, constitutes National Highly Specialised Care (NHV) and must be provided in a unit.

Counselling, assessment, treatment and follow-up of people with gendermatoses that started in childhood and adolescence. Continued lifelong treatment of these conditions must then be done in consultation with a National Highly Specialised Care (NHV) unit.

Clarification to the definition:

Gendermatoses include, but are not limited to:

  • Congenital ichthyosis
  • Epidermolysis bullosa
  • Pachyonychia congenita
  • Darier's disease
  • Incontinetia pigmenti
  • Severe keratoderma
  • Similar conditions with a genetic cause.
