How we work
We are responsible for investigating, treating and monitoring people with DSD. The aim is to bring together expertise in medicine, surgery and psychosocial support, so that all patients - no matter where they live in the country - receive equal and high-quality care.
Multidisciplinary team
Care is provided by a team of different specialists working closely together. The team includes:
- Contact nurse
- Paediatric endocrinologist
- Paediatric urologist
- Gynaecologist
- Clinical geneticist
- Endocrinologist
- Urologist
- Psychologist
Patients are regularly discussed at multidisciplinary conferences (MDCs). The whole team reviews assessments, treatment options and support needs to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
National cooperation
We also collaborate with other specialities, such as reproductive medicine, and with other hospitals in Sweden that have the same national mission for DSD. Together we develop care through joint meetings where we discuss clinical issues, research and improvement work. This allows us to share experiences, monitor results and develop care for people with DSD across the country.
