We offer highly specialised care tailored to patient needs. We offer a range of different types of outpatient care, from traditional outpatient visits to personalised day care, group education and investigation activities.

About our services

The diseases we work on include the internal secretion of hormones in the body and disorders of hormone balance, endocrinology, which in some cases have an intimate interaction with the body's metabolism. The largest diagnosis is diabetes mellitus.

Other diagnoses we work with are thyroid disorders, pituitary and adrenal disorders, obesity, lipid disorders, osteoporosis and other metabolic bone diseases.

We are doctors, diabetic nurses, clinic nurses, assistant nurses, podiatrists, secretaries, dietitians, physiotherapists, counsellors, psychologists and behavioural scientists.

Referral for obesity

For a patient to be considered for bariatric surgery requires:

  • That the patient has made proper attempts to lose weight through diet and exercise.
  • A BMI of 35 or higher.
  • Age 18-60 (up to 65 years may be accepted if prosthetic osteoarthritis of the hip or knee is present).
  • No abuse (alcohol, drugs, medicines) in the last 2 years.
  • Stable psychiatric situation.
  • Stable social situation.

The mission

The obesity clinic's mission is to admit patients with a BMI of 35 or higher for possible obesity surgery, and to follow them up post-operatively.

We follow patients after Gastric ByPass for one year, and patients after BPD-DS (Bilio Pancreatic Diversion with Duodenal Switch) for life. GBP patients are followed after the first year in primary care. The obesity clinic is also a referral point for patients who have undergone surgery for obesity and suffered serious complications such as severe weight gain, severe nutritional deficiencies, postprandial hypoglycaemia, eating disorders linked to obesity, etc.

For weight gain and nutritional deficiencies, patients should first meet with a dietitian in primary care and actively work on meal organisation and meal choices before being referred to the obesity clinic. Furthermore, our vision is to serve as a centre of excellence for the disease of obesity, its consequences and treatments. We try to spread this knowledge and are happy to visit other healthcare centres to inform them about our activities and the disease of obesity.
