Regional Oncology Center
The regional oncology center is an independent unit at University Hospital which is jointly funded by the region's seven counties. Work at the center focuses on the regional tumor register, the quality assurance register, biostatistics, data management, registry studies and clinical trials. The unit aims to improve cancer care by supporting quality development and research. Research on quality assurance is increasing and is often focused on the longer-term impact of introducing new medical technologies, the reasons for regional differences in cancer survival, and the effective and efficient use of resources. The quality assurance register can also be used to identify groups that can be studied in more detail to improve understanding of tumor biology and treatment effects.
