Referrals appreciated. But we prefer a long-term partnership.

We have an active and long-term partnership with the doctors, patients and county councils that send patients to us. This partnership can take the form of a dialogue about how treatment is to be carried out, and how the various tasks are to be divided up among the relevant parties, often through training and joint research projects. Many of our specialists travel out to hospitals in the region and meet the patients on their home turf.

This way of working benefits everyone: the exchange of information increases, healthcare improves. and resources are used in a more efficient manner. It is often better for the University Hospital to go to the patient rather than vice versa.

The University Hospital is based in the Uppsala-Örebro region, and we are constantly working on developing our partnerships with the surrounding county councils: Gävleborg, Dalarna, Örebro, Värmland, Västmanland and Sörmland. Norrland County Council is also a key partner for us.

Uppsala University and its faculty of medicine is the hospital’s most important partner. Research and teaching activities are an entirely integral aspect of healthcare.
