On admission
Please bring your hospital letter and a form of ID with you. Contact your doctor if your state of health changes during the period prior to admission.
Let relatives know which ward you will be on, and when you can have visitors. Tell the ward staff which people may be given information about your state of health.
You will be given the medication that you need on the ward. If you have any medication with you, please give it to the ward staff.
The hospital provides the clothes that clothing you will need during your stay in hospital. However, on many of the wards you can wear your own clothing if you prefer. Ask the ward staff if there is anything in particular that you should have with you.
Bear in mind that the hospital is responsible for the training of a wide variety of healthcare staff. While it is you, the patient, who decides whether students may be present during an examination, or whether they may carry out the examination or treatment, please be aware that by allowing students to participate in the treatment process you are contributing to improvements in training and future healthcare.
Please do not bring large amounts of money, credit cards, jewellery or other valuable items with you into hospital. The hospital cannot be held responsible for such items.
On the ward you will be given information about the scheduled times for meals, tests, doctor’s rounds etc. Let the ward staff know if you temporarily leave the ward. There are always opportunities for personal discussions with your doctor or nurse.
