When you come into hospital

You will need to bring with you your admission letter, an ID card or other proof of identity that includes a photograph of you, and your white plastic patient's card. You may also find it helpful to bring this booklet with you. If your health deteriorates or improves before you come into hospital, please contact a doctor.

Please let your relatives know which ward you are on and when they can visit you. You should also tell the staff on the ward who they are allowed to inform about your progress.

The hospital will provide the clothing you need during your stay. On many wards you will be able to wear your own clothes. Check with the ward whether there is anything special you need to bring with you.

The hospital provides training for all categories of health care staff. You as the patient have the final say as to whether students can be present at or carry out examinations or treatment, but by permitting students to participate in your care you will be helping to make their training and future health services even better.

Please do not bring large sums of money, bank books, cheque books, credit cards, jewellery or other valuables with you. The hospital cannot accept responsibility for such items.
