The Burn Center

The burn center at the University Hospital is one of two burn units in Sweden. Each year, around the clock, about 50 patients with severe burns are received. Most of the patients have such serious injuries that they have been transferred from other hospitals, mainly from northern Sweden. Academic specialists in the intensive care of burn victims offer guidance to emergency rooms across the country, 24 hours a day. People who are severely burned require immediate emergency care to minimize damage. The University Hospital intensive care helicopter is quickly on site and can retrieve the injured, from anywhere in the Nordic countries. Intensive care can be applied while in the helicopter, ensuring that all injuries can be cared for on equal terms, regardless of where one lives in the country.
